"Defend and Serve Cunt" is a response to the proliferation of self defense items marketed toward women, most of which are untested, impractical, and leave the root of the problem unaddressed: men's attitudes toward women and consent. While countless companies pedal items such as pink plastic alarms, internal condoms with teeth, and un-ripable clothing, we continue to exist in a world where men are socialized to see women's bodies as sites of property and conquest. Violence against women and gender minorities will not cease without broader social change. "Defend and Serve Cunt" highlights the ridiculousness and impracticality of these poorly thought out self defense items while incorporating whimsicality and humor.
